Erick A. Araneda, CPA, is a Tax Services Partner at the Firm. He is responsible for supervising the quality control of the Firm’s tax practice, which includes both domestic and international tax. His leadership includes overseeing the preparation and processing of tax returns, technical research, communications with the IRS, and coordinating with the Firm’s team of driven tax professionals to ensure the various tax deadlines are met. Erick also takes the lead on a range of activities for the Firm, including staff training, recruiting at major universities in South Florida, and keeping up with the technological advances in the accounting profession. His dedication to staff development and support reflects the Firm’s commitment to reliable, personalized service for its clients.
Erick’s extensive experience working with clients on international tax consulting and compliance matters includes subpart F, treaty positions, pre-immigration tax planning, expatriation, offshore voluntary compliance programs, and reorganizations. He frequently works with foreign sellers of U.S. real estate to reduce or eliminate their FIRPTA (Foreign Investment in Real Property Tax Act) withholding. Erick also assists foreigners with the structuring of their U.S. real estate investment in order to protect them from potential U.S. estate tax exposure. Erick is a Certified Acceptance Agent (CAA), which authorizes him to certify passports for taxpayers who need to apply for an ITIN (individual taxpayer identification number).
Prior to joining Appelrouth, Farah & Co., P.A. in 2010, Erick worked at Andersen Tax in West Palm Beach for 6 years. He dedicated his time there to focusing on various client engagements for high net-worth individuals.
Erick attended the University of Florida, where he earned both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in tax accounting in 2004. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Greater Miami Tax Institute, and International Tax Group of Miami.
