Steven M. Appel, Director of Tax Services, brings over 30 years of experience in accounting to lead Appelrouth, Farah & Co., P.A.’s tax practice. A Certified Public Accountant with a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida, Steven joined the firm in 2004. He directs the firm’s team in developing tax strategies and keeping on top of the constant changes in tax law.
Before joining Appelrouth, Farah & Co., P.A., Steven served as a Tax Director with PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, leading the firm’s Orlando tax practice. He also served as a Tax Director with Coopers & Lybrand LLP, leading the firm’s Ft. Myers tax practice. His expertise includes general individual and corporate taxation, estate and trust taxation, and partnership/real estate taxation.
Steven is a native of Key West, where the firm also has an office. Prior to attending law school at the University of Florida, he graduated from Florida State University, with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He is a member of the American Bar Association, The Florida Bar and the American and Florida Institutes of Certified Public Accountants. He has served as a director in a variety of organizations including the Calusa Nature Center and Planetarium, Cities in Schools of Palm Beach County, The Boys and Girls Club of Central Florida, and The Russell Life Skills and Reading Foundation, Inc.
Steven’s General Advice for Entrepreneurs:
Have a good business model, but an even better team. Make sure that the people you are doing business with, such as your investors and bankers, are viable, worthy business partners you can trust. And finally, remember to learn more than you forget every day.
Activities of Interest:
When he’s not working, Steven enjoys spending time with family and close friends. He especially enjoys attending sporting events with his three sons. When all is said and done, he believes that the memories of times spent with family are the ones that are the most cherished.
