Thomas E. Garland is a Senior Litigation and Valuation Manager where he assists with all aspects of commercial litigation. From malpractice and lost profits to fraud, embezzlement, money laundering, and business valuation, he works to uncover and reconstruct the details that tell the entire financial story.
In addition, Thomas is the Firm’s Microsoft Excel resident guru. He uses the program to compile reports and dynamic business models including projections and viability analyses.
Analytics and litigation are a major component of Thomas’ daily tasks, which he cites as the perfect career for someone with an investigative nature. He enjoys working closely with the commercial litigation team as each case is different and therefore requires constant exploratory work and analytical thinking. He strives to go above and beyond to understand the case and uncover the facts. Thomas is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in Florida and in Virginia, as well as a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), a Certified Forensic Accountant (CRFAC) and a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA). Thomas is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts.
Born in Puerto Rico, Thomas moved to Miami when he was 12 years old. He graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Accounting degree in 2003 from Florida International University. He coupled it with a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice.
